International Professional Learning Standards Organisation (IPLSO) is an independent international accreditation body that accredits professional learning providers and individual courses against clearly defined quality, integrity, and professional learning standards.

We operate globally and across sectors, evaluating professional learning in education, training, skills development, and applied professional practice.

We do not provide training, deliver courses, or operate as a learning provider.
Our sole role is independent accreditation, standards alignment, and quality assurance.

What IPLSO Is — and Is Not

IPLSO exists to provide a clear, trusted signal of quality for professional learning.

We are:

• Independent
• International
• Sector-agnostic
• Standards-driven

We are not:

• A training provider
• A course marketplace
• A membership association representing providers
• A regulator or statutory authority

We are also not affiliated with, governed by, or limited to any single industry, licensing body, or national framework.

Our Focus

Our focus is simple:

Ensuring professional competence through credible learning standards and independent accreditation.

IPLSO does not exist to endorse superficial certificates or low-value training.
We exist to protect standards, promote meaningful learning, and support organisations that take professional development seriously.

Why IPLSO Exists

Across many industries, professional learning has become diluted.

Short, shallow courses are frequently presented as “professional development” without clear links to:

• Competence
• Ethical practice
• Real-world application
• Verifiable learning outcomes

IPLSO was created to address this problem by restoring clarity, accountability, and trust through independent professional accreditation.

AI is Changing Professional Learning

Artificial intelligence is making it faster and easier to create courses, learning materials, assessments, videos and other professional development content.

This creates opportunities for learning providers, but it also makes independent quality assurance increasingly important.

A professional-looking course can now be produced quickly. However, professional presentation does not mean that the course has appropriate learning outcomes, accurate and sufficiently developed content, valid assessments, meaningful practical application, or the depth required to support professional competence.

The same principle applies to human-created learning. A course should not be considered credible simply because of who or what created it.

For this reason, IPLSO evaluates the learning itself.

Our accreditation process examines whether providers and courses meet defined standards for learning quality, assessment, professional relevance, integrity and competence. The use of AI does not automatically strengthen or weaken an application. What matters is whether the resulting learning meets the required standard and whether the provider remains accountable for its quality.

As AI reduces the barriers to producing learning content, credible independent scrutiny becomes more important, not less.

What We Do

International Professional Learning Standards Organisation:

  • Accredits professional learning providers that meet defined standards.
  • Reviews and accredits individual courses against transparent criteria.
  • Evaluates learning outcomes, instructional design, and assessment integrity.
  • Confirms alignment between learning content and professional competence.
  • Provides ongoing quality oversight for accredited providers and accredited courses.

We do not replace professional bodies, regulators, or licensing authorities.
We complement them by focusing specifically on learning quality and standards integrity.

How the Accreditation Process Works

The IPLSO accreditation process includes:

1. Application

Providers submit organisational information and proposed learning programmes.

2. Standards Alignment Review

We assess content quality, learning objectives, trainer competence, assessment methods, and learner support systems.

3. Quality and Compliance Checks

Policies related to ethics, accessibility, fairness, and record-keeping are reviewed.

4. Decision and Feedback

Successful applicants receive IPLSO Accredited status for the providers and courses that successfully meet IPLSO accreditation standards.
Where requirements are not met, clear feedback and guidance are provided.

5. Ongoing Oversight

Accredited providers agree to maintain standards, submit updates when material changes, and participate in periodic review.

Independence and Integrity

IPLSO is committed to:

• Transparent criteria and decision-making
• Independence from commercial pressure
• Avoidance of conflicts of interest
• Evidence-based evaluation, not marketing claims

Our credibility depends on the integrity of the IPLSO Accreditation Mark.
If a provider or course carries IPLSO accreditation, it must genuinely deserve that accreditation.
